MANUFACTURE ALABAMA NAMES NEW APPCO EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR SCHUYLER ESPY

Manufacture Alabama and the Alabama Pulp and Paper Council (APPCO) are pleased to announce that attorney Schuyler Espy has been named the next APPCO Executive Director. Espy will replace Roy McAuley who is retiring at the end of the year, after nearly 21 years with the Council.

Espy, an attorney with Burr & Forman, has spent her career in private practice counseling clients on environmental and regulatory matters, including permitting and compliance for the construction and operation of environmentally regulated facilities, and she is experienced in administrative and judicial environmental enforcement proceedings. Prior to her time with Burr & Forman, Espy served as an Associate General Counsel and Assistant Attorney General at the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM) for 11 years. Her career has focused on the areas of environmental regulation, compliance, and other related legal and policy issues.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Schuyler to the Manufacture Alabama team,” said George Clark, Manufacture Alabama President. “She has a rich technical background and will bring a wealth of environmental expertise to APPCO and the members of Manufacture Alabama.”

“Schuyler Espy brings a remarkable background and skill set to lead APPCO into the future,” said Randy McRae, Chairman of the APPCO Governmental Affairs committee. “The pulp and paper industry continues to grow and invest in Alabama. Schuyler’s leadership will be vital in serving and guiding APPCO’s member companies in the regulatory and government relations arenas. We are delighted to welcome her aboard.”

In addition to the role of APPCO Executive Director, Espy will lead on many of the Association’s environmental issues and provide expertise to all of its participating manufacturing members. She will be responsible for managing Manufacture Alabama’s environmental committee meetings, where she’s been actively involved for many years.

The services provided by Manufacture Alabama and APPCO are essential to manufacturers and their partner industries in Alabama,” said Espy. “I am thankful for this opportunity and honored to be joining such a distinguished group.”

Espy will join Manufacture Alabama in a transitional role in September while Roy McAuley continues serving as Executive Director through the end of the year. Espy will serve in the role of APPCO Executive Director on a contract basis.
